I must have missed you were doing thing. I'll go check out the first one.
I love fan fiction. I love AU fic, and I love fan fiction that hews so close to canon that it could easily be inserted between canon installments or imagined as happening off-scene.
Just to warn you: in my mind the YouTuber Prism's fan film rewrite of the Disney sequels have utterly supplanted the characters as depicted in the "official" movies. When I think of Rey, Finn and Poe, I now think of the characters from that fan film.
On the other side, I've just starting reading the Sword of the Jedi trilogy of fan novels, and so far it's excellent, hews close to the EU canon and it apparently ties together all the loose ends from the EU, gives the characters a proper finale and even redeems that awful Darth Jacen storyarc.
An interesting direction, but I have to admit I prefer Rey (Rae?)โs origin as a descendant or creation of Palpatine, and while she canโt deny her heritage, she wonโt let it define her choices either. That would also have been an interesting counterpoint to the themes youโre working on with the bonds of blood.
One thing no depiction has ever done is convincingly show Jacen turning to the dark side. I didnโt think Kyle/Benโs turn was convincing either - he turned just because? - and even Anakinโs fall was only believable because of the depiction in the ROTS novelization. You try to become a Sith for the power to help someone you love...but to become a Sith you have to kill someone you love and become incapable of love...thereโs kind of a trap there. At least with Anakin it made sense because he didnโt know the price until it was too late. Kyle/Ben as written by Disney was just pathetic. But Jacen?
I'm not much of a Star Wars fan, but this is interesting.
Alright, you made me subscribe

I'll see how yours falls on the spectrum.

P.S. I have to ask: why "Rae"?
Really good stuff. Too bad the studios won't hire writers like this who both know and love the storyverse.
