Nod, the Insanity is in the writers of Marvel (both comics and movies).

The main reason that I don't read comics anymore.

Love this! Yes, This is great. Illusions do not, and cannot bring happiness. It's a short-term solution to a long-term problem; my favorite metaphor for this was a quote from David Mustane of Megadeth fame, who said that the sex/drugs/booze lifestyle was like "...peeing in your sleeping bag to warm yourself up when you're cold on a camping trip."

Moreover: This insistence on illusions having the power to make you happy, and Wanda's insistence on compelling an entire town full of people to be part of her illusion against their wills? For me, quite a few parallels in the modern-day trans/pronoun/other crazy bit debate.

But perhaps that's a story for a different day.

Further: writers 'beating up the good girl' is a trope that I recall in modern-day scriptwriting , going all the way back to 'Little House on the The Prairie," when each season the writers seemed to ask the question "How can we make Mary's life awful THIS year?" [they made her blind, burned her house down, killed her baby, made her nuts...why?]. It goes beyond fulfilling any actual storytelling need and just becomes a means of hurting someone by proxy over and over again. Why?

I hadn't connected the issues with Wanda and healers, but-- it's right.

There are a LOT of writers who *cannot manage to write a healer*. They can't do tanks, either-- part of why I like "Rise of the Shield Hero" is that the intro does such a good job of showing dysfunctional but noisy-common Deeps.

(Deeps. DPS. Damage Per Second. The guys who can't take hits, or repair hits, whose job is to kill stuff fast. Most drama is focused on them, as the pointy end of the spear, rather than the support or tank classes. DED DOODS DO NO DEEPS!!!)

1. I really dislike the Spok version of logic stereotype.

2. Vision should have remained a single individual, since there is no rational, or logical reason for him to engage in a romantic relationship, and it goes against his character.

3. Most comics have issue from a writing stand point, largely due to either management problems, or writers wanting to drive something in that they haven't considered from a narrative stand point. I could go on, because Vision fit a fan base, just as Scarlet did, both fan groups are perfectly healthy and good, although Vision has problems with regards to fitting that fan base -- see stereotype comments. That is all I'll say on the matter.

I also remembered this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g9xL1IFnGlY

The tendency these days is to treat people like kids who never grow up, which is a type of motherhood gone wrong (and people don't seem to talk about much).

Good article.

I've seen the "advice" in places to in general throw lots of things at characters and make their lives hard, though what I have seen is usually to give them challenges to overcome, not just get "broken." Still even then it sometimes seems like poor advice, like it's saying a story isn't good enough unless all kinds of horrible things happen in it. Sorry, nice try. I do wonder also if it sometimes comes from the perspective of the author thinking "heh I can handle all this" at least vicariously.

"So why, oh why, did Marvel let Wanda Maximoff not only convince herself of this fantasy for years but let the other Avengers go along with it? Moreover, why are fans continuing to let them do this to her and the audience? If it is in the name of character development, I pray we stop soon. This is a waste of character, not an evolution of same."

I think this is just wokeness inserting itself, because that entire ideology depends on denying reality and trying to make personal dreams real.
